The Ache of Unanswered Love: A Woman's Story of Hope and Heartbreak
She woke up to the sound of her alarm, and as she glanced at her phone, her heart filled with the ache she had become all too familiar with lately. Reluctantly, she got out of bed, starting her day like any other, but her thoughts were elsewhere. An anxious feeling lingered as she checked her phone every few minutes, wondering if he even remembered the day. Yet, she had slowly stopped expecting too much from him.
During her lunch break, as she settled down with a cup of tea in hand, her thoughts drifted back to the day she met him. Yes, six months earlier, on today's date, she had met him. Though it wasn't a grand event, she lived her life in small moments, believing that all the little things actually made life. She noticed every little thing, which sometimes ended up hurting her.
She was reliving that day in her mind when he picked her up from her place, and she found a bag with chocolates, flowers, and books for her. She was surprised, as no one had done this for her on a first date before. And that's how that day started. They shared each other's life secrets sitting on the Ganga Ghat, which was definitely not the usual kind of first date, but she felt comfortable around him. She felt at home.
She didn't realize when she held his hand and rested her head on his shoulder. It felt perfect to her. She had hoped to return in 2-3 hours, but they ended up spending the whole day together. She noticed the way he remembered little things about her. She was happy, like a kid around a man, after so long.
A smile crept onto her lips as she remembered how he let her pick all the books she wanted, got her ice cream and candy. She was scared, but she let her guard down around him.
Her chain of thoughts broke with the sound of her phone. Hoping it might be him, she checked her phone, but her smile vanished when it was just an office email.
With a sigh, she got back to work, because she had promised herself that she would give him the time he needs. But her heart beat faster at the thought of losing a part of herself if she lost him. Still, she could only wait.
